1978's Sassafras LP, a soul funk album with a touch of disco, was a project largely conceived by the first family of Philly Soul, the Ingram Family Band and featured songs written by family members Barbara, Butch, William, John and James Ingram. Highly collectible in soul-funk and disco circles, the Sassafras album commands high dollar among collectors. Finally available in the digital domain, the band on the album features Tre Gardner (bass); Butch Ingram (bass); James Ramsey (guitar); Billy Ingram (guitar); John Ingram (drums); Timmy Britt (percussion); Robert Timothy Ingram (percussion); Mark Prater (keyboards); James Ingram (keyboards, synthesizer); Gene Orloff (strings); Julien Barber (strings); Marvin Morganstern (strings) and Paul Gershman (strings).
