If the work of Duke Ellington is familiar to you, then it's highly likely that you are also familiar with the compositions of Billy Strayhorn. Very quickly becoming one of Ellington's indispensable writers, penning such classics as 'Take The A Train', this 2 CD 40 track compilation includes the melodies of 'Chelsea Bridge', 'Passion Flower', 'Lush Life', 'Brown Penny' to the more swing pieces like 'Rain Check', 'Clementine', 'Smada' & 'All Day Long'. Billy Strayhorn was certainly a lucky man to have his compositions played by one of the most beautiful orchestras the world has ever known. Nocturne. 2005.
