Clarence Fountain, born in Tyler, Alabama in 1929, was a founding member and leader of the Blind Boys of Alabama, a legendary gospel group formed in 1939. Despite losing his sight in infancy, Fountain's deep, soulful voice and charismatic leadership propelled the Blind Boys to international acclaim. "I Found a Friend," originally released on the ALA label in 1979, marks a poignant reunion for Clarence Fountain & The Blind Boys of Alabama following Clarence Fountain's solo ventures, bringing him back together with original bandmates Johnny Fields, George Scott, Leroy Burke, and Robert Weaver.
