More Than Just Sixteen Candles

Fronted by Italian-American Johnny Mastrangelo, who would become known professionally as JOHNNY MAESTRO, teenage New York street corner DooWoppers THE CRESTS were one of the earliest mixed race vocal groups to achieve significant commercial success.

Although perhaps best remembered for their biggest hit, the million-selling 'Sixteen Candles', they racked up eleven further U. S. chart entries, including 'The Angels Listened In', 'Step By Step' and 'Trouble In Paradise', while Maestro weighed in with a trio of solo hits of his own, notably 'Model Girl'.

All these and many more are included on this compilation, which presents the very best of both The Crests and Maestro, across five different record labels between 1957-62, and features all their chart records.

This is the first time that this body of work has been thus assembled, while several of these sides are hard to find elsewhere on CD.
