Steve Durose - a one-time childhood idol of Barnes and guitarist of Manchester experimentalists Oceansize and Amplifier - not only produced the record, but also arranged and played substantial parts of the record himself.

Since 2015, Charlie Barnes has been a permanent member of arena-filling pop behemoths Bastille's live line-up, playing some of the largest arenas and festival stages the world over. Dan Smith, vocalist of Bastille, contributed backing vocals to "Will & Testament".

Oceanography was recorded all over the globe, in snatched moments after tour rehearsals, late nights spent in far flung studios from Wales to Virginia, ideas sent back and forth over email and put down in fits and starts while on the road.
