Peter Gregson

Peter Gregson, renowned composer, cellist and Deutsche Grammophon artist, presents his fifth studio album, Patina. Gregson has long been fascinated by the effects of finitude and absence on life and by trying to translate these powerful no-things into his music. With his new studio album, he asks himself and the listener the question: What happens if you remove the melody?

"Supporting melodies change their meaning; harmonies, cadence, phrasing take on a different role. But the blueprint of the absent melody is still palpable, even if you don't hear it.

His music is regularly requested by the most exciting choreographers and dance companies in the world, including the Theaterhaus Stuttgart / Gauthier Dance, the Joffrey Ballet, the PA Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet and the Ballet BC. His film productions include Roger Michell's "Blackbird" (starring Kate Winslet and Susan Sarandon) and Alan Rickman's "A Little Chaos", as well as the critically acclaimed soundtrack for the critically acclaimed video game "Boundless" and the music to some of the most popular television series, from Netflix's hit "Bridgeton" to HBO's "The New Pope" by Paolo Sorrentino. Brands like Balenciaga, Burberry, Dior, Ralph Lauren, and Pat McGrath have used Gregson's music in their recent campaigns and runway shows.
