Tintamarre!

In 1750 the road to Quebec leads through a small Acadian settlement called Tintamarre. Mathilde and Acquila Girouard are raising their family in a pastoral paradise. Then the English come. I'm always on the search for something new to read, mostly nonfiction or historical... this was a beautiful journey that I didn't see coming. It is historical, transported me in time to a place I'd never imagine on my own. It's courageous and loving, showing the strength of family and true love. It's adventurous and thrilling, keeping me involved and wanting to learn more. It was a nice, smooth read. I had to recall some French from high school and was impressed that I still remembered. You cheer for the characters, you feel their struggles. I feel lucky to have found Tintamarre!
