Letters of the Founders

This is a public domain document. Patrick Henry's thrilling words, "Give me liberty, or give me death!" inspired a generation of heroes to fight for the rights guaranteed them by nature and nature's God. Picking up the weapons of war to defend their rights and freedoms, General George Washington led the Continental Army, while Patrick Henry, as first Governor of Virginia, defended America through the law. Together, these two men, the Sword and the Voice of the revolution, sparked a movement of freedom everywhere throughout the world. May we today continue to honor and preserve their legacy of liberty for the generations to come.
