Sometimes parents don't live up to the specifications of their job descriptions. That's the plight confronting Laurell Wilson, who's ready to go off to college to study art. Instead, her father's unexpected death totally upsets the family dynamics. Everyone is forced to change their plans, and it's Laurell who feels the most impacted and forgotten. Her mother's fragile emotional state causes Laurell to abandon her own plans, even as her resentment festers into an ugly, open sore.
