In a series of lyrical images, a child explains her experience of social distancing during the pandemic: houses separating into islands, people trapped in bubbles, and attending school through a periscope. When her parents won't let her have a sleepover on her birthday party, she runs out into the night. Only her grandmother can convince her to come home. The story is a parable of how separating to protect the vulnerable can bring us together. A book to help all children - and perhaps some adults - to cope with social isolation. All royalties from sales through Amazon will be donated to Feeding America, America's largest hunger-relief organization.
