Chelsea Brown is a quiet, shy sixteen year old. She has only one close friend and is an only child. Chelsea feels anxious about everything in life. Her mother, Siobhan is an overprotective woman who controls every aspect of her life. Chelsea's father, Frank, is a quiet gentle man who fails to assert his feelings to his wife and maintains a close relationship with his daughter. Chelsea has never had a boyfriend before, partly because her mother would not allow it, but also because of her shyness, she found it difficult to hold a conversation. One summer day this would all change when she meets Tony, a charming, young man, who would swiftly take Chelsea's life in a direction she would have never thought possible. Despite her mother's demands that she forget boys and concentrate on her studies, she embarks on a relationship that makes her grow up much faster than she planned. Siobhan's religious convictions will test Chelsea and push her in a direction she feels she has no choice.
