Harriet Henning, a young archaeologist, discovers an Egyptian tomb containing dozens of clay tablets covered in mysterious cuneiform inscriptions. Because the tomb is unstable and is beginning to collapse she is forced to prematurely abandon her find, but not before she manages to photograph each tablet. Her discovery prompts only moderate interest among her archaeologist peers; but draws excessive and unwelcome attention from quite a different quarter. She suddenly finds herself in the cross-hairs of sinister individuals who leave her in no doubt of the dire consequences for her should she refuse to hand over the photographs. With the help of her friend, Thomas, an IT specialist, it becomes clear to her that there must be something more to the cuneiform inscriptions than just another run-of-the-mill archaeological curiosity, something incredibly fascinating but also dangerous, an ancient riddle that has already started to pull Harriet into its spell. The two go into hiding on Harriet's oddball uncle's farm, an accomplished archaeologist and anthropologist with a dark and troubled past and a secret of his own. After a lot of deliberation, the three decide to solve the mystery themselves and a deadly race against dark and powerful interests ensues to reveal an ancient secret that possibly has the capacity to change the course of history for better or for worse.
