The classification of music is a vital part of Music Information Retrieval. We have a number of ways to classify music based on its features either audible or extracted and viewed. We can use Low or High level characteristics to proceed with this classification. We also select the salient themes in a track to portray its content and classify it. There is a link between certain features we use for classification and determining the beat of a track. All three processes have been used with a relatively high accuracy every time, with the exception of jazz and classical music due to its unstructured and complex content. More features can be selected and used in its classification. Another possible way of classification is by using spectral plots of the features of a signal which is again obtained by processing the signal and then plotting the information received. This method is more efficient method of classification of classical music because of the distinct forms of plots generated in the processing of the signal. This approach is discussed in this scholarly work.
