Mandibular Fracture Management- a Novel Technique: Management of Minimally Displaced Mandibular Fractures Using Self Drilling Imf Screws- a Clinical Study

Mandibular fractures are one of the most frequently occurring injuries of the facial skeleton most commonly due to road traffic accidents and interpersonal violence. The successful treatment of mandibular fractures depends on fracture site reduction, restoration of normal anatomy, attaining normal post reduction dental occlusion and masticatory jaw stability. Patients with adequate dentition and undisplaced or minimally displaced mandibular fractures benefit from a closed reduction technique. Maxillomandibular fixation (MMF), also called intermaxillary fixation (IMF) has in various forms been employed for over 3000 years for the treatment of jaw fractures. The introduction of Self drilling intermaxillary fixation screw has enabled intermaxillary fixation to be carried out with several advantages and overcoming most of the disadvantages of intermaxillary fixation with arch bars and other methods. so, here presenting with a novel technique for IMF which allows the easier management of mandibular fractures.
