Sonnets to Someone Gone Edward Spurlock
Sonnets to Someone Gone
Edward Spurlock
This is a collection of 101 sonnets dedicated to someone who has, to paraphrase Tennyson, been loved and lost. The sonnets are thematically connected and explore such topics as fate, free will, reality, illusion, and the nature of love itself. The sonnets also reflect the progressive emotional state of the author as he struggles to cope with the existential questions of life and his journey from loss to the eventual, reluctant acceptance of his situation. This series is meant to be read sequentially from beginning to end, but of course each sonnet can be read individually at random. Written in the traditional Elizabethan (Shakespearean) format.
