A high-profile editor and writer for a prominent magazine in the East is reborn as Sharla Dearing, owner of a cattery in Anderton on the Oregon coast. Sharla hides as far west as she can get where she hopes to stay hidden, stay safe from her abusive ex. On a wild stormy night, nomadic hitchhiker Chris Ellison on his way around the world invades Sharla's hideaway. He promises to help save the ancient Anders mansion she inherited. No one knows Sharla's true identity until Chris reveals her hideaway to the world, and to the man who seeks to destroy her.
