A Journey through Sacred Hindu Scriptures
Linga Raju
This fifth edition book has been further modified in April 2021. It describes in detail the texts of Vedas and the Upanishads. The sacred Hindu scriptures are placed into three categories, namely Shruti, Smriti, and a subsidiary category. Shruti means what is heard. They contain the ever present divine revelations. Shruti scriptures are the Vedas which consist of the Samhita parts of Rigveda, Yajurveda, S?maveda, and Atharvaveda, and the appendages of the Vedas, namely, Br?hma?as, ?ra?yakas, and the Upanishads. Shruti texts are the most sacred Hindu scriptures. Smriti and the subsidiary category of texts are given in another book.
