Brenda Rubashevsky, smart and red-headed, is a misfit in her Jewish family in London. She's lippy, she challenges every rule. Unlike her brother David, who does what he's told, she clashes with their parents, and elopes to live on the other side of the world, in New Zealand. While Brenda's life drifts downwards, David, back in London, achieves great success, and takes the chance to play things to his own advantage. But then, an email from a stranger turns both Brenda's and David's lives upside down.
