Understanding the Bible Bob Dowell
Understanding the Bible
Bob Dowell
Think of the Bible as a divine drama with a prologue, three acts and an epilogue. Think of the Old Testament as the prologue and act one. Think of the prologue as the first eleven chapters of Genesis--containing the creation, God's plan one (Adam and Eve and the Garden) and God's plan two (Noah and the Flood). Think of act one, God's plan three (the covenant with Abraham), as beginning with chapter twelve of Genesis and continuing through the rest of the Old Testament. Then think of Matthew through Acts, the first five books of the New Testament, as being act two (Jesus and the new covenant) and act three (the church). Next, think of Understanding the Bible: Head and Heart--Part Two, Matthew through Acts as utilizing poetry to connect conviction of mind with consent of heart. Now, you are ready to begin reading.
