A body is discovered in a second-floor hotel bedroom that was locked from the inside. At first, it was believed to be the result of natural causes but the autopsy reveals that the man appeared to have been the victim of a savage beating.
But who had reason to commit the murder and how could his attacker have left the room when it was locked from the inside? These were just two of the many questions puzzling Detective Inspector Nina Monroe as she heads the ensuing murder investigation.
However, her troubles are compounded as she learns that her long-time partner Matthew is having an affair with the wife of a local millionaire property developer. An affair that will lead Nina and her team on yet another murder investigation.
