Beyond the Negative
David H J Gay
The believer rests secure in the glorious assurance of the gospel: 'We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose' (Rom. 8:28). But does this mean that he is never ill, never meets any setback, never suffers, but always has the best of everything? The prosperity gospeller says 'Yes'. And he quotes old-covenant promises to 'prove' it. In this book David Gay argues that this is not only wrong, but cruel. But his main point is that we must not leave it there. Those old-covenant promises, read biblically, teach us much about the glories of the new covenant.
