It is a daily routine in the life of office workers to deal with people, and this involves a lot of communication. It is this very act of communicating that can either bring people together or drive people away. Everyone in the office has their own agendaand goals, and this often creates conflict. When conflict occurs, we see various characters surface. There are the weird, outrages, and outright strange characters, andas we observe these characters, we will also notice how they communicate. Sometimes it is akin to a battlefield, where wordsfly and hit people like a machine gun, or the sudden explosion of a 'dormant volcano' from someone who usually seems calm in demeanor. In such an environment, only the fittest and wittiest will survive, and oftentimes, newcomers who are fresh out of college will find it difficult to navigate these hostile waters. These freshmen would face characters whom they may never dreamed of or even imagine exists, and this can negatively affect someone who is ill-prepared. This primer serves as the textbook you wish you had when you were in college. Education teaches us technical skills andknowledge, never has it ever taught us or prepared us to face the realities of the working environment. It is this exact lack ofpreparation for the work environment which can put a lot of stress to freshmen who still think of everyone as a friend. Andthat is the objective of this book, to introduce you to the many characters in the working environment who are out to get youand make your working life miserable. We aptly label these people as Office Jerks, and they can be more dangerous than apoison arrow frog in the Amazon Jungle. Coming from the experience and advice of over 20 years of working in a corporate environment, we have faced nearly any type of office jerk you can imagine. Ranging from characters who are mere distractions and irritations to characters who are a realpotential threat to your career, healthy and sanity.
