Claude Frollo is a dark, thrilling tale based on the antagonist of Victor Hugo's classic novel. In this book, the reason for Frollo's evil -including the conflicting hatred and lust for a Gypsy woman - is explained in great detail.
Everyone knows the fate of Frollo, but this story exposes the past that led him down this path. In a small town in France not far from Paris, Claude's parents Ethelinda and Gaetan meet in the most unlikely of circumstances. They fall in love, but struggle to stay together as Ethelinda's dangerous past constantly leads her away. Claude is left with no control over his own future, his loyalty being pulled in two directions. He chooses the faith of his father, but is always drawn by the customs and rituals of his mother. Full of intense twists and turns, Claude Frollo will open your eyes to the true story of one of literature's darkest villains.
