Where is My Home?
Martin Gillard
When the young state of Czechoslovakia is betrayed by Britain and France in 1938, two newlyweds, Tomás and Anna Kovarik, flee to France to escape Nazi tyranny. Believing themselves safe in France the young couple build a new life. But Hitler cannot be stopped and soon France too is in danger. Tomás struggles to keep his Jewish wife and their young child safe. He does not know this struggle will last a lifetime, as he encounters French collaboration, the Communist takeover of his country after World War Two, and fresh betrayal during the Cold War. Where is My Home? is a story of love and human resilience; the story of two ordinary people who show extraordinary courage in their fight to survive both the Fascist and the Communist tyrannies that dominated the lives of millions. "Beautifully written; uplifting and heartbreaking in equal measure." -John Ivor Jones
