The neighborhood of Gardenton certainly isn't the pride and joy of Renton, Washington. The ten-block community has become a home for low-income families and retirees. People mind their own business and keep to themselves. Many children end up getting placed in the foster care system or funneled into one of the gangs in the area.
The Black Dragons plan to change that.
The Black Dragons are Gardenton's most unconventional gang. The group is made up of senior citizens who all practice tai chi: a retired schoolteacher, a former combat photographer, a professional interpreter, a café owner, and other adults determined to rescue Gardenton's lost children. To do so, they set up the Gardenton Academy and open its doors to twelve adolescents convicted of felonies. It's up to the Black Dragons to set them straight!
In this sequel to Cam Parvitee's original Black Dragon novel, the group once again takes up the challenge of protecting at-risk teens. Their adventures lead to success and joy, but also tragedy and betrayal. Both the Black Dragons and the children have a lot to learn about relationships, community, and identity. Will they be able to band together to weather the tough trials ahead?
