It follows the fictional Ramsey family from the Battle Creek Massacre to the battle of Fort Henry and Donelson, a major loss for the South that split the Confederacy in half. What novel about those times would be complete without Andrew Jackson, horse racing, wild poker games, duels, Indian battles and of course slavery and the Indian removal, laced with love and betrayal. It is all here, modeled on real history and characters.
