This book of verse, loosely narrates the authors wilderness years. The author returned from war with a troubled mind, but was too proud to admit he had problems. So, for five years he wandered and foraged on whatever passed for nourishment. Behind these poems lies addiction, grief, sensual pleasure, and moral decay. However, the heart of the work is the authors abiding love of his wife, whose forgiveness and understanding ushered in the light of Christ. When this book is read with the understanding that what the author was seeking stood beside him the entire time, it is a powerful testimony, both confession and salvation.
