The island of Tiritiri Matangi is the last bastion for many endangered species of native New Zealand birds. Its located off a peninsula on the east coast of New Zealands North Island just north of Auckland. The books about an octopus whose castle of shells is invaded by an anchor from a runabout with a couple of local fishing buddies. The octopus climbs up the anchor chain and even comes on board, quite angry and spraying them with ink! Its a true story of my friend Melvin, who told me years ago, and I said, Im gonna write a book about that. Octopus eat many shellfish and crustaceans with their strong parrotlike beak, the only bone in their body. Theres a huge amount of tourists and local visitors on the island every week, and Ive heard theres a shop on the island. Perhaps Ill sell them there.
