This is the story of my escape to Vietnam a few years ago. I was 50, living a very comfortable life in middle-class Surrey, the "green belt" of South London, but I was in the middle of a self-destroying marital situation. Madly in love with a husband who, obviously, was not in love with me anymore! So, one day, I just took off, with no precise prospect in Vietnam, just a vague promise of teaching in the school of a vague friend. VAGUE was the key word. The book tells my story of this incredibly challenging but wonderful 3 years. As well as the "documentary" aspect of my adventure, there is this over present love situation in the background. I have to battle on two fronts: coping with the life in a completely new environment, new language, new climate, new culture and facing mental despair and loneliness on a daily basis. I hope this book can leave a message of hope and ultimately of love. Love for Vietnam and love for all troubled souls . . .
