A story for those aged 8 and upwards. The struggle is a desperate one - to gain control over DNA that is set to destroy the world. Leap into adventures with the children and their animal friends as they strive to do just that. The moggies are sparkats in disguise. In their native Rainbow world they are bright orange and luminous green. They move between worlds by means of the electricity in their fur. They communicate by mobile phone and they work as spies for the Intra Galactic Intelligence Service. The children live in rural Uganda. Megan and her brother Alex have been in Africa most of their lives. Tom is a recent arrival from England, sent to live with the father he has never known. He has his own personal issues to work through. A friend to them all is Asiimwe, a local Ugandan boy who moves easily between two cultures but struggles to reconcile science with magic. The story contains authentic details of African life. Meet the inhabitants of Rainbow world with multi-coloured skin and hair, the Techno people built from spare parts. Ride on skateboards in Star world. Drive snowmobiles in Frost world. Help create new life in Youth world. But everywhere you will find the threatening presence of evil including the menacing baboons and the horrors of decay in Lost world. It is not always clear who is on which side and the end brings unexpected revelations. This book is the first of a trilogy. The other two are ready to go to print. The key characters remain the same in all three books and, in each one, are joined by several new faces. The Puzzling Mirror was a runner up for the South West in the recent WOW competition organised by Waterstones Booksellers.
