A POST-SLAVERY NIGHTMARE is a scathing indictment against most Caribbean leaders. In graphic form, it depicts a struggling people under the iron grip of ruthless leaders who are ill prepared to lead a people in the 21st century and beyond. These leaders use a systematic paradigm of victimization and exploitation to suppress and control their people thus paralyzing the polite imagination and aspirations of a helpless people in chains. This tyranny is reflected in official reports by reputable human rights agencies and other media that highlight unwarranted torture, people executed by the police without recourse, political disappearances, illegal searches and arrests, degrading prison conditions, barbaric prison brutality by police, ignored child prostitution, governmental participation in drug trafficking, disabled judicial system, freedom of expression under constant threat, governmental armed gangs, and the list goes on. The intelligentsia is encouraged to rise up against this intolerable tyranny and to salvage the citizenry from the abysmal pit of stagnation, victimization, and exploitation.
