Approx. 200 page showcase of the creative writing of a community based writers' group based in Swinton, Salford. Contains nearly sixty humorous, whimsical, thought-provoking, ironic, eclectic tales written in response to the various challenges set by the group or stimulated by experiences. Look for Anne's explanation of Bobby Gentry's enigmatic ode and Alan's contemporary interpretation of 1066. Lilian goes surreal with a TV and Mavis gives the rat's eye view of the ballad of the pied piper, which Barry also brings to a Cheshire location. In a nostalgic look back, the 50s are revisited on Bill's first date and Lesley's kitchen walls! Further back, Joyce relates Calpurnia's tragic tale and similar sombre stories are included from John and Shaun. From the poetic to the more prosaic, Mary and Alan both write about a job interview and the group unites to relate tales of kitchen calamities.
