Max Plank, San Francisco's P. I. Extraordinaire, just wants to take his girlfriend to Hawaii and find out what's bothering her lately because he's afraid it might be him.

So when Poe, the corrupt casino magnate, asks him to help find his missing brother and millions of dollars in stolen casino funds, Max turns him down. But Poe won't take no for an answer, and what Max thinks will be a brief one-day cursory investigation leads to a dead body, a frame-up for murder, and a last-second escape.

Now Max must risk his life or face a murder charge, and that's the upside, as a mysterious assassin is stalking his every desperate step towards uncovering the secrets behind those threatening his life.
