Marcus Bird
The same talent that scored Marcus Bird a shortlist nomination in the highly competitive global Commonwealth short Story Prize competition, is on full display here in An Elephant in Kingston, his first collection of short stories.
In these stories a man avoids suicide by partying with a fallen angel; a magical stranger offers someone the ability to remove memories of his ex girl friend; and a man becomes obsessed with the mysterious appearance of an Elephant in Kingston city. Named after the story that was shortlisted for the 2018 Commonwealth writer's prize, An Elephant in Kingston goes from the fantastical to the downright hilarious in a multicultural, twisting ride to new realities and back.
