The preliminarity of thought is a subject that apparently only rarely appears in Heidegger's train of thought. It is, however, the background to the author's reading. Heidegger characterizes thinking that strives to answer the question of Being explicitly as something preliminary. This means that it is preparatory, in the sense of preceding, so that the thinking makes room for what's coming and what can happen. This can also be labeled as a procedure that frees the space where thinking occurs. This preliminarity therefore also clearly influences the anticipation of the thinker. At the same time, thinking is preliminary in the sense of temporary, but only a searching thinking that is capable of retracting the thought and tries to be prepared for the matter it wants to think. This demonstrates the finiteness of thinking.
