Image recognition has become an indespensible means of providing quality control in a production environment. Modern desktop computing has brought image recognition technology into the reach of even the most modestly funded organization. Sorting through the myriad of text available on the subject can be a daunting task. This study contains descriptions of some of the most commonly used methods implemented in image recognition as well as a demonstration of the feasibility of using such systems on commonly available desktop computers.
