This book presents INFLEX, a morphology testing tool for language learning developed entirely in Java. This system is designed to help a student to test his command of morphological changes, such as conjugation of French verbs, through a set of questions. Background theories range over computer aided language learning, computational linguistics, and object oriented programming. The main components of this system are: a lexicon, a question generator and a user friendly interface. Three types of lexicons are compared in terms of conciseness, compactness in file size, and accuracy. Some interactive features, such as hinting, feedbacking are provided. The whole system is intended to be compact and portable, so that it could run on a mobile phone. The implementation includes three types of French verb lexicons and one Japanese predicate lexicon, three types of question generation and a GUI interface. Some quantitative comparisons and evaluations are made on the lexicons, and the whole system has been tested by several users. "A Morphological Testing Tool for Language Learning" provides a helpful introduction to the study of CALL, Morphological Linguistics and Mobile use in Education.
