Jim had a rough start in life. He didn't seem to matter to anyone, and he began to give up on himself, too. His choices were leading him down a destructive path, until a judge saw through his criminal antics and made an effort to turn things around for Jim by giving him a way out of his criminal charges and a choice to join the war effort. The Army was desperate for soldiers to fight in World War II. The Rumanian Army was larger than the US Army. Jim was well suited for military life, but he almost didn't make it out alive. He was badly wounded, but because he refused to leave the battlefield without his fellow soldiers, he was honored. This fictional story is based on real historical events. Jim's journey is an amazing one, as were so many in the rapid and terrifying events of WWII.
