Surfer Joe
Robert Curtis
1967: War rages in Southeast Asia; dissent riddles the country. Off the beaches of southern California, however, the good life seems to flow as it always has. Surfer Joe makes his own break and wins a surfing World Cup while his best friend joins the Marines and goes to Vietnam. He asked Joe to go with him, but Joe?s plans included a sponsor and a Pro tour. During the tour, his best friend loses his life in Vietnam. The loss devastates Joe and his passion for surfing. In its stead, guilt and anger cause him to join the Marines; but war is no place for a wave rider, and there, in battle, Joe loses his center and goes home. Only the love of a Hawaiian princess, family, and the ancient spirits of the Hawaiian wave riders can bring him back.
