It's me. Chris Heart. That's what they call me. It is not my given name. It is just one of my identities. But this a love-at-first-sight love story is not about me. It is about Sofia. Like the legendary mermaid, she didn't have a voice. She was a mute college student who also working for the library. Her beauty was mesmerizing. I looked at her like her eyes were newly discovered planets. I wanted to know all about them. All their oceans, forests, deserts and their satellites. I had become a satellite myself. I was revolving around her with the hope of getting close to her. Like a moth circling around the fire, I was ready to be burned. Our lives are mostly shaped by our fears. Whatever hurts us more will define us more than anything else. Sofia was mostly the product of her bad memories rather than the good ones. As if she was looking for a remedy for her fears and pain, drops of rain drained from her hair and mixed with her tears. She made her right hand into a fist while keeping her right thumb open. She brought her right hand on top of her left palm facing up. She moved both her hands upwards after that."Help!" That was what Sofia was signing.
