Henry Hack served for twenty-two years in the Nassau County, NY Police Department, rising to the rank of Inspector. He commanded the Scientific Investigation Bureau and was qualified as an expert witness in several forensic evidence areas including blood, narcotics, and trace evidence. He also commanded the Eighth Patrol Precinct in Levittown. Henry was a long-time New Yorker, born and raised in the boro of Queens. He and his wife, Lorraine, currently reside in coastal North Carolina. The Marsh Mallows is the fifth novel in a crime series featuring NYMPD homicide detective Danny Boyland. The fourth, Forever Young, won the 2018 Silver Falchion Award at the Killer Nashville Writer's Conference for the best police procedural published in 2017.
