Commander Adrian Huxton is ready to retire from the Armada, and be a father to his teenage daughter. But on the last day of his career, the prophet Emoche Hulle declares a holy crusade by God, and launches a coup that smashes the Systems and scatters the Armada. Adrian barely escapes aboard his damaged supercarrier Vindication, leaving his daughter behind.

Adrian promised he'd come back for her, and he keeps his promises. He must rally his terrified crew and put Vindication back into the fight.
