The 47th Roman Legion was garrisoned in the red sand desert on the border with Astibul. When Senator Quintus Nigellus Aristo arrives war comes swiftly to the formerly peaceful area of Eastern Calbania. Aided by mercenaries and auxiliaries the 47th struggles to keep its head above the swirling sand in an ever worsening battle against the horsemen of Astibul, marauding orcs and their own new nefarious legate. In a different time, in a different place, the world was not as we know it. Rome was different. But the soldiers in the legions were the same. This is the story of some of those men.
