One's Dream - Another's Future

William St. Lucian had traveled the world. He had it all within his fingertips but something was always missing. In 1810 he and his two brothers traveled to the America's - a frontier he had not yet experienced. A new world to explore. They landed in New York and took a train west. In Wyoming William felt the urge to turn north and follow the Rocky Mountains that surged up from the land like a gigantic fence of nature. William kept looking out the window of the train car as he and his brothers moved further and further north. Then one day on a stop William got out to stretch his legs and could not believe what he saw. It was not much. There were trees, pines of several different varieties, rocks that were huge and looked like they were hanging by a thread so not to tumble down the mountain, but there was something...... William really looked around and could not quit smiling as he finally 'felt it.' He was home. Working shoulder to shoulder with the men, William built his home. Sending letters back and forth to England telling his family of the land and the house. Soon it will be complete. The family will come and visit and he will show off his place. His piece of land. The town celebrated with William in 1814 when the place was finished in August. In September the furniture arrived right after the last painter left. Then there was the house warming...... He entered the kitchen and saw the Cook left a note for morning breakfast. And also mentioned that leftovers were in the pie safe. Smiling he poured another glass of wine and went to the stairs. Moving he placed his hand on the carved rail and made his way up to the 3rd floor to his room. The master suite. He had his room to overlook the meadow. There he prepared for bed. With only one candle burning he sat it on the table beside his bed and also his glass. Prepared for bed and moved to the window. Blowing the candle out, there was only moonlight now. William smiled as he finished the wine standing there looking outside he felt at peace. Crawling into bed he heard the clock in the entry downstairs chime 3am. He smiled and fell asleep. William awoke, his dream that he had felt so real. He would soon find out how real it was because today (unknown to him) it was no longer October 1814.
