First and a Mile

First and a Mile will take you on a roller coaster ride through the inner workings of two youth's lives, a mother and a former All-American football player. It takes place in fictitious Central City's inner city. The streets raise Jalen Starling and Robbie Walker. When they meet and discover they each have extraordinary athletic abilities, they embark to both find out who they are and rise up and out of the ghetto. Janice Starling attempts to raise Jalen as a single mom in the projects. Her tough, iron-willed Pittsburgh background moves with her to eastern Pennsylvania where she falls for All-American high school football star, Mike Levi. Mike succumbs to the darker forces of human nature and abandons her. Now she must figure out a way to retain her faith in Christ while securing Jalen's future---hopefully not to turn out like his father!
