Written in 1894 by General Baker, this is the story of the Bureau of the National Detective Police, created during the Civil War. General La Fayette Baker organized and commanded this paramilitary police agency to combat crime, corruption, espionage and sabotage and other criminal acts against the Republic. General Baker and his Bureau was also responsible for capturing and bringing to justice the men and woman that assassinated President Lincoln.
