Bacchae also known as The Bacchantes is an ancient Greek tragedy, written by Athenian playwright Euripides in approximately 405 BC. The god Dionysus appears at the beginning of the play and proclaims that he has arrived in Thebes to avenge the slander, which has been repeated by his aunts, that he is not the son of Zeus. Bacchae is considered a literature & fiction classic in the tragic dramas & plays genre and is often required textbook reading in the following disciplines; English, literature & fiction, Ancient & Medieval Literature, Greek tragedy, ancient & classical, dramas & plays, performing arts, theater, and world literature.
