It seems that no area of the print media is left untouched or is immune to the avalanche of materials pouring forth from the typewriters of hundreds of authors, including those involved in the writing of so-called Christian literature. Most often the subjects of these books consist of the same insipid, reconstituted pablum, dished up in pedantic portions which are viewed as spiritual, good for the soul (another mystery), and relevant in all respects to one's personal salvation. The idea seems to be that by ingesting this steady, bland diet of spiritual mush, one can build one's spiritual muscles, as it were, and thereby obtain the strength to ward off the evil machinations of the Devil while somehow working one's way into heaven. What it all really amounts to in a lot of cases is a mish-mash of nonsensical exegetical procedure. It is a frenetic attempt to proselytize the masses and convert them into "born-again believers," "Christians" who "give their hearts to the Lord," and their money to the evangelist.
