When the paths of two men intertwine like the serpents on a caduceus something has to give. One is a doctor and researcher who is driven by a childhood trauma to find an anti-venin that will work for all snake bites. The other is a charismatic man whose own childhood has led him to a fascination with serpents, their mythology and power, and the visceral effect of their presence. Set in Baltimore in the early 1990s, this novel explores the nature of good and evil and shows that the barriers between the two are often porous and ill-defined.
