After a long marriage a middle aged man living in Vancouver BC is thrown back into the world of dating and discovers that he is metaphorically in a foreign country where he does not speak the language, he does not understand the rules and the social nuances escape him. He is surprised to discover that there are many talented, bright and sexy women each making a mess of their lives in their own unique way. Over time he gets to know different women but they constantly surprise him, sometimes with amusing results. But most of the time he is two steps behind them and finds himself in the metaphorical desert again. He is also dealing with a netherworld of family court and high priced lawyers which is another reality which is foreign to him. He discovers the court system is like riding a roller coaster where he has no control other than to hang on and he has to keep throwing money overboard until the roller coaster stops of its own accord. Yet he is constantly striving to find love and to recover custody of his children. Ultimately he has to choose between dating and being Mr. Mom to his kids.
